Die Ausbildungsvorbereitung ist ein Angebot für schulpflichtige Jugendliche ohne oder mit Hauptschul- bzw. Realschulabschluss (ESA bzw. MSA), die noch nicht in eine duale Berufsausbildung oder eine Berufsqualifikation (BQ) nach dem Hamburger Ausbildungsmodell eingetreten sind.
Das Angebot der Ausbildungsvorbereitung (AV) ist bezirklich organisiert, d.h., für jede allgemeinbildende Schule ist festgelegt, zu welcher der 20 AV anbietenden beruflichen Schulen ihre Schüler/innen in die Ausbildungsvorbereitung gehen.
Eine direkte Anmeldung an der H18 ist nicht möglich. Die Zuweisung erfolgt durch die Behörde oder die Stadtteilschulen. Diese haben jeweils eine bestimmte Berufliche Schule, mit der sie zusammenarbeiten.
